About

The Seattle Unreinforced Masonry website is available to anyone who lives, works or visits Seattle.

Owners and occupants of unreinforced and retrofitted, reinforced masonry buildings are encouraged to post updates about seismic retrofitting projects.

The purpose of the site is to encourage other URM building owners to retrofit and to educate about the importance of Seattle’s URM buildings.

Unreinforced masonry buildings are important because of their historic preservation component and because of their increased earthquake risk. Seismic retrofitting addresses both issues.
